Last weekend

Kept it calm this weekend. Took some time to reinstall my laptop on Friday. It’s all ready to tape some mixes. Hope to get that done this week. Promised some mixes for the road to Southport. Maybe I’ll Podcast one or two of those mixes later on.

Started Saturday very early for once. Bought a new headphone. My Pioneer HDJ-1000 broke and getting it fixed would cost more than a new one. I’m done with Pioneer. Crap quality. Got myself a Sennheiser HD25. Looks like it is better suited for rough use on the road. Sound’s top notch and it’s light as a feather.

Digged trough a lot of vinyl Saturday. Joel aka DJ ReeDoo from United Music had bought someone’s collection. Found among other things the “Soulsalsasoul” remix from St-Germain. A classic. Didn’t really plan on buying vinyl but Orbit DJ was still closed at noon so I killed some time at the nearest shop. Being United. In the afternoon picked up a lot of vinyl at a friend’s place. Extended my collection with a couple of hundred pieces. Ace pieces. Some 70’s rock, some Jazz, some Soul. Will take me a while to go through all of that but the first few things I listened to made me more than happy. Donovan’s “Get Thy Bearings” is on a constant rerun.

After a most enjoyable diner at ReSource (Rue du Midi, absolutely recommended) went to Le Tavernier for the Wonderful party with Cris Prolific. As always a great party. Due to the fine weather it took a while to get started but even if it is too hot to dance it’s a fun place to be. Nice people to chat with, lots of beer to drink. Didn’t stay too long. A bit tired from getting up early. But enjoyed the night very much.

Sunday was horizontal. Just chillin’. Big up to Sporting. The competition should’ve been decided this weekend if it wasn’t for a lame referee handing out early Christmas gifts to Genk. But even that won’t keep us from the title.

And up until Thursday June was almost a blank month in our DJ agenda. But not anymore. 2nd of June we’ll play at DJ ReeDoo’s Le Bateau Ivre party if the edition next week goes well and he gets an OK from the venue. The week after that is still a blank but the 2 weeks after that it’s private party time. Private parties are the best. Chilling out with friends. Not too much stress for the dancers nor DJ’s. Just everybody enjoying themselves.
