Dan23
At St-Paul Soul Jazz festival there was an artist called Dan23 doing some nice paintings. Liked some of his works a lot. Not so sure about the stuff he did on stage, his live painting thing. Anyway check his site. Made me realise where I saw his name before. In Straight no Chaser Mag.
I like what he does very much only not so sure about his source, the photo’s he uses as starting point. They’re mostly well taken, almost classic pics, of the stars he paints. Using that makes that the portraits have quality when it comes to harmony and tension but it’s a quality already present in the original pictures. He would have more of my respect if he would start from scratch. Would be nice if he would take it that level. Then he would be defintely up there with the greats.
