The Weekend Report
The weather might be utter shite this summer but I’m having a blast. Last weekend was another nice one. Friday was fun promoting our festival in Gooik and partying with the youngsters at JH Eenders. Mobile phones with camera’s are dangerous in situations like that though.
Saturday had a nice diggin’ session at United Music. Checking crates with a can of beer. Ideal to kickstart your evening. Bought 2 wicked Jon Lucien albums (yes, reissues all you hardcore vinyl freaks). Made me wonder why I haven’t checked the man’s oeuvre deeper before. Pure genius. “Would You Believe in Me” has been bouncing in my head all Sunday. A Filet Americain in ‘t Kapiteintje and a lot of beers later headed home early.
Because Sunday was BBQ time. To celebrate Thierry Steady Go!’s birthday. Before getting there made a stop at De Wand where a lot of graffiti writers were decorating the tram stop. Some nice pieces and a lot of people checking it out. The BBQ was great with a mad story about the Brussels Soul scene/2nd Hand Vinyl shops courtesy of Jean-Pierre from the Juke-box shop. Somebody should write a Belgian version of “Last Night a DJ saved my life” I tell you.
Looking forward to next weekend. My first Nothinghill Carnival. Got some pics from this weekend on my Moblog. Be sure to check it out next week for live impressions from London.
