I’m not a big Techno fan. Don’t really dislike the music but even most Detroit stuff is a tad too fast and repetitive for my liking. I love the slower, more soulful variation people (well basically me) tend to call House. Anyway. Loads of bollocks as intro to what is considered a Techno LP. Although if you follow my completely irrelevant and no good description given above it’s as much House as it is Techno. But it’s produced by Deetron, who is considered a Techno artist, and its out on News, a Belgian label better known for all things Techy.

Voila. A nonsensical rant to introduce what is, for me, the best surprise of the year. From Theo Parrish you expect nothing less than genius and Trus’me and co were announced by great 12’s. Deetron’s remixes regularly grab my attention but I wouldn’t buy an album of him if it weren’t for that “I Cling” tune championed by Benji B and the like. Because at the time that song wasn’t released on 12” I ordered the LP. I got it way after I received the 12’s but I never cancel an order out of principle. And I’m glad I did so.

“I Cling” isn’t the best song on the vinyl. All songs are of that quality and some or even better. “Let’s get over it” is a vocal song that’s just as good as the one sung by Ovasoul. “Isotope” and “Sol” are pure dance floor bombs that are certainly up there with Rolando’s “Jaguar” or Aril Brikha’s “Groove La Chord”. And the rest is of no lesser quality. If you like your bleepy House a bit like the more epic and slower Detroit stuff then this is a winner. Buy it.
