De Javaanse Jongens
Sleeping a tad too long on quality stuff is becoming a recurrent theme for me. Although it’s been staring me in the face, being a Rush Hour / Amsterdam aficionado, I skipped the latest release on the Kindred Spirits subsidiary Nod Navigators by De Javaanse Jongens. It’s double stupid because I’ve got previous releases on the label and love them (check the Tom Trago one, pure dopeness) and I dig the Louis Bordeaux album on Appletree records a lot. Louis Bordeaux, Jay Bordeaux, Wan Kei-You and Ruben Rahametwau are the group members, by the way.
But through Nalden and certainly Alex I’ve seen the light. Certainly the “On You” track is gold. Very Spacek I agree but even the Beatles didn’t release “Sgt. Pepper’s” before “Love me do”. If it’s this good I don’t mind the fact that the source of influence is this clear. And if a first release is this strong the future looks more than promising. Check the EP. Buy it at Rush Hour.

tuurlijk zievereir…JJ’s good for ya.
