- We started organising parties in 2000. Mainly because we missed something in the Belgian nightlife. We needed a party with quality music, a nice ambiance and drinks at reasonable prices. As avid collectors of good music, we thought we were the best choice to get behind the decks. So we became the resident dj’s of the party. But because we didn’t think we were all-knowing and we always are in for new experiences and lessons we invited friends to come and play their favourite discs.
The parties became a success. We succeeded in bringing that something extra we craved for. And people appreciated that. Our guest dj’s showed that appreciation by inviting us to come and play their events. So the Onda Sonora Soundsystem was born, consisting out of the 3 residents dj’s / promoters. Our little baby called Onda Sonora grew. We invited, next to our friends, more well-known dj’s as guests. We started a little festival and became more ambitious in our events.
Steadily expanding, learning and getting more mature we experienced some growing pains. One of the residents chose to leave us and go his own way and the party searched its way to avoid the routine and banality.
Expanding our musical territory from mainly House and Hiphop to all things soulful that shake the booty. Looking abroad for guest-dj’s, bonding with other parties, dj’s and promoters made what Onda Sonora is today. Something quite unique in the Belgian party-scene. Inspired by many, an inspiration to some. Unlimited in its creativity but with a definite vision. Always on the look for new experiences and ideas but never forgetting (its) history. And above all still with that same drive and enthusiasm as when we started.
