Afterhours

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 10:36 am

Something for the diehard collectors among you. Jakob aka AME from the Afterhours crew has started an online shop. He’s been our local Kon (or Amir) for years now and this site is proof of that. It’s got lots of Soul, Funk and other goodies. Not cheap but it’s for those needing the originals.

Need2Soul MixCD

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 3:42 pm

Because we can’t stay raving about Trus’me alone let’s dig up another one of our favourite dj’s. Need2Soul gives us an excellent opportunity to do so. They are releasing a double CD compiled and mixed by two giants. Benji B, a man we’re a big fan of, being one of them, Glenn Underground being the other. They both deliver it the way you can expect of them (when I see the play list - haven’t heard it yet). Ideal present for the end of year festivities. Nice music, nice package. Get this.

And if you’re in London and able to catch one of the Need2Soul parties don’t think twice. Utter brilliance. Proper soulful House.

Phlash & Friends - Deep electronic Sound

Filed under: Music, New Ish, Buying Guide - BLA @ 11:41 am

Only right to make some promo on this blog for the next release of our guest at our upcoming party. The 3 separate 12”s already available of the Phlash and Friends project have all had their shine here already. But now it’s time to let you know the album is about to drop. “Deep Electronic Sound” on the Italian Archive label will be in stores very soon. No doubt you’ll hear Phil Asher (aka Phlash and thus the main main behind this all) drop some of the songs on it in his set or on our radio show next week.

The friends participating in this project are Karizma, Dego (4 Hero), Zed Bias, Mark de Clive Lowe, Orin Walters (BITA), Sa-Ra’s Ommas, Rich Medina, Zansika, Alma Horton and others.

All of the tunes already out are bangers but the album cuts take it up a notch. Like those with Rich Medina or Sandra Nkake (which are both on the vinyls as instrumental but the vocal versions really rip it).

Don’t think about it and buy this one if you see it. Or pre-order it at Rush hour (who are doing the distribution too so you’ll find all the info you could wish for here).

Essential one if you like raw, soulful music.

Prime Numbers Compilation

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 12:54 pm

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that we are big fans of Prime Numbers records. We love the music, we like the people behind it. And although we get all their music for free in the form of promo mp3’s I haven’t missed a single release on vinyl. But not everybody is mp3 or vinyl-minded. Some people prefer buying music on CD. And they’ve missed out on everything up until now. But not anymore. Label head honcho Trus’me has compiled a CD from all the releases that are out. A double CD to be more precise. One mixed, one unmixed. And with an unreleased edit of Linkwood Family’s “RIP” track.

Go buy it. It’s quality House music.

Bennson

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 9:55 am

We gave this one away in our radio show last week and you should feel very sorry if you missed it. Well, if you like some proper Boogie / Soul that is. Mad Mats to bring an extra copy for us and it’s been playing since.

Kinda reminds me of the early Jamiroquai at times or Brand New Heavies at their best. It’s Soul with Pop sensibilities but that isn’t a bad thing (hey, if all Pop was this good I my life as a DJ would be so much simpler). It’s feel good music but straight from the heart. You feel this is the result of lots of love and not a marketing plan. A good dose of this through your headphones in the morning and you smile your way through the day. "Let The Love" and "Incredible" are my personal favourites for now. "Can’t Get Enough" was it last week (it’s on the first single already available in the shops).

And there’s a damn good Mark Rapson remix on the way too. Mats played it in our show.

Some Soul

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 12:06 pm

Because there’s more to current Soul than Erykah Badu here’s some dope new Soul releases.

Bennson – Whatever It Is
Haven’t heard the entire album yet but like the originals that are on the 2 EP’s already out. Released on our next guest’s label. Mad Mats’ Raw Fusion that is. Some proper boogie. And I like Boogie. Really love the “can’t get enough” cut.

Vula – If You Want It EP
With vocal duties for Basement Jaxx and Ty on her curriculum maybe already in your collection. “Turn the clock back” and Benji B favourite “Crash da party” are the ones that do it for me. Nice singing, dope instrumentals.

Ron Trent Presents JMB – Body Rock / What Is Love
House legend going Soul / Hiphop. And what else can you expect than utter brilliance. With Phenom and Yaw on vocals. Check out that last one’s solo work too. Genius. On the always banging Jazzy Sport label.

Jimmy Abney – Return To Forever
For the “Come On Go With Me” alone this is worth buying. But the rest of the release is strong too. As you might expect from Osunlade’s Yoruba label.

More Cro-Magnon

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 11:47 am

Told you about the new Cro-Magnon album a couple of posts ago. Well, there’s more coming from them. 2 EP’s with covers from Moodyman, the Blackbyrds, Roy Ayers, … and even Gloria Gaynor. More proof of the fact we need them over for a live gig urgently. So, all Belgian clubs, please quit plugging crap rock, lame nu disco or other soulless bagger and phone those Jazzy Sport cats immediately.

Check and pre-order them here.

Brownswood Bubblers Vol. 3

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 7:51 am

For everybody who’s not as crazy as us to buy every single good piece of music from the moment it’s available (or stalking labels and artists to get them even before that) this is a must buy. “Bullion – Get Familiar”, “Joey Negro and the Sunburst Band – Turn It Out”, “Katalyst featuring Steve Spacek – How Bout Us” and “DJ Day – A Place to Go” have been out for a while now but might have slipped under your radar. Although we tried to avoid that by bigging them up in blog posts, play lists or by simply playing them in our sets. “Stacy Epps – Floatin” is just out on her The Awaking album (check that one out, not bad at all) and “Yaw – Where Would You Be” has been for grabs on his Myspace for a while but otherwise this is the first chance to acquire it the proper way. And that song alone makes the CD worth buying. Just like “Emative featuring Ahu – Turn Your Lights On” which isn’t yet available otherwise.

Anyway, check it out.

Shop List

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 12:59 pm

With the blog and radio it has become a lot easier to inform you all about the music we play. We always publish our play lists with as much information as we can provide. We don’t really believe in protecting our sources. Because we know with all the effort we put in it we’ll stay ahead of most anyway and because we know that the more people who know our music the easier it gets for us as DJ’s (to push new music). So we share.

We hope most of you actually buy the music you like instead of downloading it the illegal way. We’re not purist in any kind of way. Not music wise (we love it freestyle), not medium wise. We don’t mind CD’s nor digital formats as long as the quality is good enough. And as long as you support the artists by spending some money on their work.

But we still love buying vinyl above anything else. We do spend some money on CD’s or digital downloads if necessary but black plastic is, first and foremost, our preferred medium. With the steady decline of music stores, we get, more and more, questions about where we buy our music. And because we don’t mind to share it’s about time we tell you were we do that.

Simply stated our answer should be; “wherever we see a place that sells it”. And you can take that quite literally. But off course there are shops we visit more often than others and off course we got our favourites. So here they are. We don’t aim for a complete overview. It’s just the ones we know and like. Feel free to share yours. We love to learn.

Brussels
Lost In Music
Plattesteen 3, 1000 Brussels. Shop owned by our good friend Brekbit. Good source for all things soulful from the 70’s on. He’s got some older stuff, some new releases and drum ‘n bass too but the best buys I did there were Disco and Boogie nuggets. Brekbit is unparalleled in Brussels when it comes to knowledge about this music. Absolutely recommended shop.

United Music
Place Fontainas 26, 1000 Brussels. Another shop owned by a friend of ours. A bit more specialised in world beats. With a selection of all other funky genres and some new releases. Prices are always more than fair. Also a required stop on your digging trips.

Doctor Vinyl
Rue de la Grande Ile 1, 1000 Brussels. One for the House heads. Lots of new stuff and if you check the crates a good source for older material. You can find solid stuff if you don’t mind dusting your fingers. The owner comes from the same hometown as we do. Great guy.

Juke Box
Boulevard Anspach 165, 1000 Brussels. For the more hardcore collectors. No new releases but tons of older material. It’s the shop DJ Shadow visits when in Belgium. When I need an album badly I check this shop first. Not so interesting for 12”s. Only minus is that the shop owner supports the wrong football team.

Kozmic Music
Rue du Midi 36, 1000 Bruxelles. Also one for the hardcore collectors. Even more chaotic than Juke Box. But if you have the time and like to go through the crates you can definitely find goodies.

Goupilophone
Boulevard Anspach 101, 1000 Bruxelles. Not the most cosy one. But on the first floor they’ve got a fairly good collection of old House goodies.

Antwerp
Record Collector
Lange Koepoortstraat 70, 2000 Antwerpen. A bit like Juke Box in Brussels. If you need a missing piece in your collection, pay it a visit. And be prepared to pay the price for it. Not the ideal source for 12”s but you can find gems in the one euro bins.

Tune Up
Korte Nieuwstraat 9, 2000 Antwerpen. It’s been a while since I’ve been there but I’ve bought plenty of top stuff there in the past. Friendly owner. Fair prices.

Wally’s Groove World
Lange Nieuwstraat 126, 2000 Antwerpen. Dance Music. New to old. Check their extensive collection online. They’ve got a lot of older House records in stock. Absolute goldmine for that. Friendly service. Fair prices.

Outside of Belgium / Online
Rush Hour
Spuistraat 98, 1012 TZ Amsterdam. My absolute prime source for all new releases. They have almost all relevant new stuff (apart from some soulful House maybe), Cris, Yuri and Antal are super friendly, their services is top notch and they do ace sales every now and then. I order mostly online but I try to visit it a couple of times a year. If such a shop existed in Belgium I would most certainly live inside it. I would be broke too.

12” Records
19 rue de Palestro, 75002 Paris. I fill the soulful House gaps in my collection at this shop. Top shop in general when it comes to all things real House. Friendly service. They have an online service but I got a friend who makes the trip to Paris often and if I can I go with him. Absolutely love the girls in Paris. They’ve got a better sound in their shop than 99% of the clubs have in Belgium. Jerome Barbé style.

Fat City Records
20 Oldham Street, Manchester. In Manchester you’ve got 3 of the best shops you could wish in the same street. A vinyl addicts paradise. Or worst nightmare if you’re broke. Anyway, this one is the best in my opinion. Lots of Hiphop, Funk, Disco and other groovy things. Great service. Never ordered online but they provide that too.

Piccadilly Records
53 Oldham Street, Manchester. On the other side of the street. A bit more rock oriented. Still top shop. Online service.

Vinyl Exchange
18 Oldham Street, Manchester. Same street. 2nd Hand shop with ace Disco and House selection.

Sounds Of The Universe
7 Broadwick Street, Soho, London. Shop of the mighty Soul Jazz record label. New releases on the ground floor, 2nd hand stuff in the basement. Expect the same spectrum of genres as the label. I always make a stop there when I’m in London. Never leave it with empty hands. They got an online service.

Honest Jons
278 Portobello Road, London . Also connected with a label. When you know the label you know what to expect. Online shop too.

Vinyl Junkies
94 Berwick Street, Soho, London. A bit like the London version of 12” Records in Paris. Although I prefer their French counterpart I always pay this shop a visit when I’m around. Known to have some rare soulful House goodies in stock. Online Shop too.

Other
Juno
Online shop with a massive stock. Ideal to pick up the goodies you missed elsewhere. Good service.

HHV
German online Hiphop shop with a massive stock and some good selections in related genres. Ideal the fill the gaps in the collection.

Nuloop
French Online shop. With a very good choice of labels. For when I haven’t found it at my usual sellers.

Like said before this is in no way a definite list. Just the shops I frequent. And because I still love the physical act of digging in the crates you’ll notice most of them are real shops you can visit rather than strictly online ones. Although a lot of them have an online service.

BBE

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 10:53 am

I know there are some Osunlade fans among our readers. So they might be interested in his new mix CD released on BBE. Nice, quality mix not to far from his previous mix, “Offering”, on the same label. A bit more techy maybe. But good nonetheless. It’s a double CD with on the second disc some of the songs unmixed.

And if you’re checking BBE, be sure not to miss the second Kon & Amir release. A must have for every fan of the rarest quality grooves around.

J. Rawls & Middle Child

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 11:52 am

Sometimes people confuse being fresh with far out conceptual shit or bleeps and blips that sound like nothing else but as a result don’t sound at all. Just making quality music, these days, is more than enough to stand out from the mediocrity. Something J. Rawls clearly understands. His J. Rawls & Middle Child album proves that. No boundary pushing beats, no avant garde MC’s or singers. Nope, just damn good music. Beats that come from a tradition of keeping it soulful above anything else. The tradition that brought us Tribe, Dilla, Common et al. No wonder if you know J. Rawls history. Member / beat maker of Lone Catalysts and producer for the classic “Brown Skin Lady” by Talib Kweli and Mos Def are credentials that speak. Combine this with Middle Child who’s got a nice voice and knows how to use it and you’ve got a killer combination.

Haven’t been impressed by much Hip Hop lately but this was a release I’ve been looking forward to. Because it good. Plain and simple.

SPW CD7

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 3:52 pm

As essential as the weekender itself is, are the compilation CD’s that bear the Southport Weekender stamp on them. The one with the classics on it has learned many of my friends some of the best tunes in the sort of music I like and play. Making it much easier for me as a DJ when they are in the room. And so have the compilations. They are the ideal preparation for the weekend and good sources of decent music. The compilations are even one of the ways through which we discovered the weekender and which made us decide a couple of years ago to give it a try.

The latest one wasn’t released 2 weeks ago, much to the disappointment of my fellow party people. I myself am not really fond of mixed compilation on CD. Can’t use them as a DJ and they rarely bring me something new. It might be ideal listening food for in the car but I ain’t got one. So I dind’t care much about it back then. Even though I saw who was on mixing duties. But now it is released and when I give the track listing a better look I kinda regret not being able to buy it there (they are always a bit cheaper there, you know).

Because like you can presume of Jazzanova and Mr. Scruff it is an ace selection. Jazzanova even opening with a Belgian production (check the Red D release on Morse records where he worked together with the Telepaticos dudes). So, it’s firmly recommended music. Go buy it in a shop near you. And try to avoid the big chains. To support your local record dealer.

Track Listing:

10. Roland Appel ‘Unforgiven’
11. Tokyo Black Star ‘Still Sequence’ (Innervisions Version)
12. Madioko ‘N’ Rafika ‘Elleli’ (Kalabrese Remix)
13. South Bronx Community Youth Project ‘Dance Freak’
14. Jazzanova ‘Theme From Belle et Fou’ (Danny Krivit Edit)

Webster Lewis In Norway

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 11:09 am

One of the records I was most pleased about finding in Manchester is the “Webster Lewis in Norway” album that’s been reissued on Plastic Strip Records. Ever since I heard “Do You Believe” opening the Basic Soul Radio Show a couple of weeks ago I’ve been in love with it. 17+ minutes of pure musical heaven. This should cause a storm on any dance floor and keep it that way all through the track. If your dancers are any decent.

It makes me wish I could impress some people on the dance floor when Snowboy is playing. For now I’m keeping those moves for strictly private occasions. Like when I put the needle to this Webster Lewis record. Don’t want to hurt anyone (laughing).

Anyway. If you like Jazz to dance to you should check this site. It’s the label’s one with all the info you need on it. And find the album. You might want to buy the CD or digital release too, by the way. Because the vinyl only got the alternative take of “Do You Believe” on it. Order it at your local shop or buy it on iTunes.

The site got some sound snippets but if you want to hear a full version of that tune check the Basic Soul Show. It’s the first track of the show.

De Javaanse Jongens

Filed under: Music, New Ish, Buying Guide - Administrator @ 4:34 pm

Sleeping a tad too long on quality stuff is becoming a recurrent theme for me. Although it’s been staring me in the face, being a Rush Hour / Amsterdam aficionado, I skipped the latest release on the Kindred Spirits subsidiary Nod Navigators by De Javaanse Jongens. It’s double stupid because I’ve got previous releases on the label and love them (check the Tom Trago one, pure dopeness) and I dig the Louis Bordeaux album on Appletree records a lot. Louis Bordeaux, Jay Bordeaux, Wan Kei-You and Ruben Rahametwau are the group members, by the way.

But through Nalden and certainly Alex I’ve seen the light. Certainly the “On You” track is gold. Very Spacek I agree but even the Beatles didn’t release “Sgt. Pepper’s” before “Love me do”. If it’s this good I don’t mind the fact that the source of influence is this clear. And if a first release is this strong the future looks more than promising. Check the EP. Buy it at Rush Hour.

Pepe Bradock - Intruiging Feathered Creature

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 9:54 pm

Only thing released last few weeks (and there’s a lot of nice stuff coming out) that comes close to the genius of the album mentioned in the post beneath is this. The crazy French sound wizard always does something interesting but this is more than just a nice experiment. Pure bliss chaos not chaos. Essential stuff.

Would like to redirect you to a site with more info, or better, sounds but both Pepe’s Myspace as Atavisme’s site are hopelessly behind and unhelpful. And the little soundbits you can hear on shop sites do no good to a song you need to hear in its entirety. Just buy it.

Theo Parrish - Sound Sculptures Vol. 1 CD

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 9:46 pm

It’s out on CD. BUY IT. Not even going to explain why. So good. Even if you got the LP. So much more tracks. All pure genius. Don’t hesitate, don’t think twice, don’t sleep. You need this !!!

Strange Breaks & Mr Thing

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 10:58 am

The “Strange Games & Things” compilations have been my introduction to the deeper end of Rare Groove, Soul and other Breaks. Still have at least one of them in my box when I go out spinning. They’re like my safety net. If nothing works I get those out. Not that they are a guarantee to success but when I hear Linda Williams, Father’s Children or Foxy (yep, the first one is still my absolute favourite) the world can end and I wouldn’t care a single bit. And they are handy to give my Southport loving friends some SP afternoon goodness.

Anyway, after two Pete Adarkwah LP’s/CD’s, a Kenny dope LP/CD and a mixed CD with tunes from the first 3 volumes by Spinna BBE have finally released a new volume of this great series. With the Soul compilation hype BBE have helped to create it was a lot more difficult to bring something fresh. All classics have been re-released on compilations, re-issues or bootlegs so there was a big chance they would have released a collection of tunes you already know and have or tunes that are rare as hell but nothing more than that.

They went for the rareness but kinda avoided to dig up music that’s only interesting to people that live on eBay, devour all of an album without actually listening to it afraid it might damage it. That last thing being the reason why so many ultra rare tunes are as boring as prime time television on a Saturday. The Sky King and Society of Seven songs are hot and fresh at the same time. And there’s some more in that vain. Some lesser interesting ones on it too (The Discoettes is a cool name but they shouldn’t have covered that Allen Toussaint classic). But all in all a great record.

Another great thing is they kept true to the concept for the cover. A simple but powerful image, nothing more, nothing less. For that alone it’s worth buying it.

The songs are selected by Mr. Thing, who’s James Brown tribute mix at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide awards last year impressed me a lot. Keeps impressing me with this effort.

Muhsinah Treats

Filed under: Music, New Ish, Buying Guide - BLA @ 2:06 pm

We’ve told you about her before and we will do it gain just as long as it needs to convince you all she got talent. You should have bought the “day.break” release by now, by the way; it’s good. iTunes is the place to be for that. Anyway, Muhsinah has got some treats for you on her site. Just register, download and enjoy. And support her by spending some money on her music.

Phlash

Filed under: Music, New Ish, Buying Guide - BLA @ 10:17 am

A sort of double post but if it’s good we like to say it, if needed, twice or more. Phlash & Friends have released the first 12” to warm us up for the full later this year. The “Political 06 / Revolution” piece of music is banging. It will destroy any dance floor that’s decent or even half way decent. A bit in the same vain as his Focus’ project of a couple of years ago on Versatile. But check it for yourself over here. And if you want to buy it just click to the store part of the site.

And Phil Asher is an ace DJ as we have experienced ourselves at Inspiration Information, Nottinghill Carnival and Southport Weekender before. As well as a straight House mixer as all the way Freestyle.

That should be enough for those with the ability to read between the lines.

PN02

Filed under: Music, New Ish, Buying Guide - BLA @ 10:10 am

Perfectly timed to give you some time to study your dance moves so you can bug out to it to the fullest at our Easter edition of Onda Sonora. The first release on Trus’me his new label, called Prime Numbers, is available for you to buy. It’s titled PN02. Beware, none of the three songs on the vinyl / digital release are by the man himself. But they are in the same style / quality category.

The first cut is by those other UK dons of the 4/4 sleazy deepness Linkwood. Their releases on Firecracker Records were / are must have’s for anybody who likes top quality Detroit influenced House / Disco / Jazz. The song on PN02, titled R.I.P., is just as good as what’s already out there. Deep, simple House with a lush female vocal on top. Stand out stuff in any deep set.

Second tune is a collaboration between Pirahnahead (check his music on KDJ’s Mahogany Music) and Reggie Dokes (from Psychostasia fame) under the moniker Napihedz. “Jah Bless” is a House / Dub Reggae workout. Deepness that will surely appeal people who are fond of Rhythm and Sound releases. Again quality stuff.

Last track is a Reggie Dokes solo one. “Black Thoughts” has a slightly more complex rhythm and works slowly to a climax. I guess this one is for the more adventurous and creative DJ’s around. You can do superb things with this song but it could break the flow just as good. But play at the right moment, on a decent sound before a crowd that’s ready for it, it will cause madness.

If the Trus’me sound / Detroit deepness is your sound than this release needs to be in your collection. You can buy it on Digital download at Traxsource or get yourself the good old Vinyl version at Rush Hour.

IthinkMusic

Filed under: Music, Tech Talk, Buying Guide - BLA @ 10:13 am

In the entire Digital Download evolution, like Qtrax aiming to make everything free and gathering income through adverts and you giving up a lot of privacy, there’s only one site I’m really feeling. Not that I’ve checked them all but this one feels correct at first sight. I’m talking about Ithinkmusic. What makes it so special is that it brings together a lot of decent independent labels and provides them the possibility to create a shop of their own and sell their music through that. Or like they say:

“Ithinkmusic enables a community of independent record labels, artists and retailers to create and sell a catalogue of music to the public. This community can manage and display content online, network between buyers, sellers, and creators of music, as well as manage revenues from the sale of digital music files.

Ithinkmusic provides its user base a complete solution for the distribution and merchandising of digital music online. The user base includes professional and amateur artists and labels, as well as their fans, customers who buy music and their friends. Ithinkmusic creates an interactive network of musicians, fans, and music stores that ties each of them together using the same application to make online record stores that sell digital content.”

This is all great, no doubt, but it would be worth nothing if the music stinks. But luckily it doesn’t. With labels and artists like Restless Soul, Freestyle, Sick Trumpet, Wah Wah 45 and alike the quality is solid. So if you buy Digital take a look at this site first. It’s not as big nor complete as some others but you’re supporting the artists and labels more.

Taylor McFerrin

Filed under: Music, Buying Guide - BLA @ 6:30 pm

All of you who missed that dope Taylor McFerrin 12” on Rude Movement a while ago – and I understand that’s most of you (always love the reactions ending in a little bit of disappointment when I drop it ) - there’s another chance to buy some of Taylor McFerrin’s sonic magic. Not on vinyl I’m afraid but on Digital download. On the plus side there are more tunes to acquire than there are on the plastic. Among others the Karizma remix of “Georgia”. A must buy in my book. Head for iTunes to spend some money on this.

Million Dollar Disco

Filed under: Music, New Ish, Buying Guide - BLA @ 9:17 am

Al Kent is a Disco Nerd and proud of it. He’s keeping the true spirit of Disco alive up north in Glasgow. Collecting, re-editing, releasing obscure gems and keeping the party going. Doing this all so good dons of Disco like Dave Lee (or Joey Negro as you wish) and Dimitri From Paris asked him to play at their parties. And that’s saying a lot. He also played twice in the connoisseurs room at our beloved Southport Weekender (last time I missed it completely being knock down cold by too much and too heavy too soon but at SP39 he was definitely one of my highlights). If you want to know more about the man and his plans, there’s his very good Million Dollar Disco site. Check it and learn.

His latest project is what Hiphop people call “some next level shit”. He gathered a lot of musicians around him and got them to play together for a couple of years. The result of this is “Better Days” an LP just out on the mighty BBE label. It’s the finest quality orchestrated Disco around. Sounding like it comes straight out of the ‘70’s but made now. Like I predicted on On-Point.be one of the contenders of “thing of the year 2008”. The album should drop on my doorstep one of these days. Buy it here.

So as avid Disco lovers we thought we’d give this some shine. Finally somebody is reviving that Disco era the way it should be done. Not by sampling cheesy chunks and filtering it to death with a dumb 4/4 beat underneath but making something new with real musician. Like the Deep Funk scene but with better craftsmanship.
